Sour²
Ingredients
1oz Shelter Point Montfort Whisky
1 Egg White or 1oz Egg White
1/2oz Spiced Cranberry Cordial from Frostbite or Cranberry Simple Syrup
1/2oz Lemon Juice
3 Drops General Ambrose’s Aromatic Bitters from Apothecary Bitters
Method
Place all ingredients in a cocktail shaker and shake until emulsified and frothy, about 30 seconds. Add one large ice cube and a few smaller ice cubes to the shaker and shake hard for another 30 seconds. Strain into a coup glass and garnish with a cranberry or drop a few drops of bitter on the foam and drag a toothpick down the center to form hearts
Cranberry Simple Syrup
1 cup White Sugar
1 cup Water
3/4 cup Fresh or Frozen Cranberries
Method
Bring everything up to the boil and stir continuously until all the sugar is dissolved and the cranberries are plump, then roughly crush the cranberries and leave to steep for at least an hour. Use a wide mesh strain to take out the big chunks and seeds but leave some of the pulp because that will add flavour and colour to the cocktail.
The syrup can then be poured into a glass jar or tupperware and stored in the fridge for up to a month.
